Trying to find my direction

I had decided years ago to focus on being a better photographer and try to perfect my craft. Over the last few years I have done just that by continuously learning and practicing and I have come a long way but there’s always more to learn. One thing I have struggled with is what to focus on but I can’t seem to do that because I just love taking images of everything because I see beauty in things that people walk and drive by everyday. I am surprised I have not crashed my car from constantly looking for that awesome place where I can create such cool images, kind of scary at times. One thing that is a problem is sometimes the things in my head don’t always turn out so well in the real world. When I get a thought I want to do anything possible to at least try it but sometimes it just doesn’t turn out so well which is so frustrating,🤪. Just this past weekend I grabbed my 16 year old daughter, who is a trooper with all my crazy crazy insane ideas, and we planned to do a colored powder photo shoot. First my husband was away so I didn’t have him around asking questions and freaking out about the mess I was going to be making, lol! I set it up in the driveway and thought this is going to be so fun. We first had issues with the chalk powder not doing what I wanted it to do, it wouldn’t puff up like I wanted it to do, dumb chalk!! Then it was awesomely cloudy all day but of course when we went to shoot the bright sun comes out and causes this crazy light on my backdrop,😡. After a lot of practice and lots of throwing and tossing powder we started to get the hang of it. By the end of the shoot we were both multicolored, the driveway was covered in chalk but we had some awesome shots. Happy? I was! Messy, yes, but we laughed and had so much fun and clean up wasn’t as bad as I thought. After today’s heavy rain any remaining evidence of the powder shoot is gone but I have some great images to share with everyone and to remember that fun day I had with my daughter. It was a pretty good day overall.
